Romani people
Romowie, potocznie Cyganie (nazwa własna w języku romskim Roma lub Rroma, Rromani w zależności od dialektu) – nieterytorialny naród lub grupa etniczna pochodzenia indyjskiego, której członkowie tworzą diasporę zamieszkującą większość państw świata.
Romowie stanowią społeczność wysoce zróżnicowaną pod względem językowym oraz kulturowym, a także zajmującą rozmaite nisze w ekonomiczno-społecznej strukturze krajów zamieszkania. Mimo takiej niejednolitości czynnikiem wspólnym dla większości tradycyjnych grup jest przestrzeganie zwyczajów, wynikających z subiektywnego rozumienia zasad romskiej kultury (romanipen).WIKIPEDIA

The Romani (also spelled Romany /ˈroʊməni/, /ˈrɒ-/), colloquially known as Gypsies or Roma, are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group, traditionally itinerant, living mostly in Europe and the Americas and originating from the northern Indian subcontinent,[from the Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab regions of modern-day India.
Genetic findings appear to confirm that the Romani "came from a single group that left northwestern India about 1,500 years ago."Genetic research published in the European Journal of Human Genetics "revealed that over 70% of males belong to a single lineage that appears unique to the Roma."They are a dispersed people, but their most concentrated populations are located in Europe, especially Central, Eastern and Southern Europe (including Turkey, Spain and Southern France). The Romani originated in northern India and arrived in Mid-West Asia and Europe around 1,000 years ago. They have been associated with another Indo-Aryan group, the Dom people: the two groups have been said to have separated from each other or, at least, to share a similar history. WIKIPEDIA, defines street photography as “photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents.” Typically, street photography is about candidly capturing life in public areas. And contrary to its name, street photography does not have to be done on the streets. You can do street photography anywhere.

Moim zdaniem fotografii ulicznej blisko jest do dokumentu. Fotografując z pozoru banalne sytuacje, my fotografowie uliczni, stajemy się, bardziej lub mniej świadomie, kronikarzami naszych czasów. Ileż bym dał by móc zajrzeć do portfolio ulicznego fotografa z czasów Cesarza Nerona czy Bolesława Chrobrego… niestety. Fotograf, Pawel Kosicki
